Aveiro – The Venice of Portugal

I travelled to Aveiro by bus. It took about two hours from Braga. It was a long walk from the bus station to my hotel so I had a good look at the commercial centre of the town. You have to walk from the bus station across to the railway station. You go down the escalators, walk through and come up on the other side of the station to get to the main thoroughfare or you could just call a taxi. Once through the railway station if you look to your left you will find the old railway house. This beautiful building has been restored and is decorated with beautiful Azulejo tiles depicting life of the local people and their occupations from a bygone era. I am staying in the Palmeira hotel close to the canals. Once settled in I went for a walk down by the canal.
